J. Scott Kilbourn (MArch 83) joins Perkins Eastman as Principal and COO of international operations

The Washington, DC office of top architecture and design firm Perkins Eastman is pleased to announce that J. Scott Kilbourn AIA, LEED AP has joined as a Principal and Chief Operating Officer of the firm’s growing international practice. Kilbourn joins with more than 28 years of design and planning experience for communities, buildings, and interiors in hospitality, retail/mixed-use, corporate office, and healthcare—most recently focusing on high-density, mixed-use developments. In his role as COO International, he will join the firm’s existing domestic and international management team to oversee the day-to-day operations of the firm’s international offices, staff, and overseas projects.
 
Chairman and CEO Bradford Perkins FAIA says of Kilbourn’s leadership, “As an international firm with projects in more than 30 countries, Scott Kilbourn will provide proven and valuable leadership in helping the firm achieve its sustained growth.” He furthers, “We have been committed to building a practice that can work anywhere in the world. Our international practice—involving most of our core practice specialties—has been growing rapidly in China, Southeast Asia, India, and the Middle East; we expect this growth to continue.”
 
Prior to joining Perkins Eastman, Kilbourn was a Vice President at RTKL where he worked in the Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Washington, DC offices. He has also worked for Ellerbe Becket and Swanke Hayden Connell. His work spans the globe and includes built projects in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Philippines, Korea, Taiwan, Russia, and throughout the United States. Kilbourn attended the Harvard Graduate School of Design and Dartmouth College; is a member of the AIA and USGBC, among other organizations; presents widely; and has held several teaching posts in the US and overseas.
