Yugon Kim (MArch ’04) Completes Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Extension with Renzo Piano Building Workshop

Yugon Kim (MArch ’04) has recently completed the design and construction of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum extension in Boston, MA with Renzo Piano Building Workshop. He has been with the Workshop since 2006, spending two years during the design phase at their home office in Genoa, Italy, and was sent to oversee the construction phase of the Museum extension in Boston.
He now has established IKD with Tomomi Itakura (MArch ’04), exhibition designer at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, a design consulting firm that specializes in museum, gallery, and exhibition design with both institutional and private clients. He also has established a satellite firm of Tai Soo Kim Partners in Boston as an Associate working to expand the firms’ presence in the Massachusetts’s market.
In addition to starting his own professional practices, Yugon has taught design studios at Wentworth Institute of Technology and is currently a member of the adjunct faculty at Northeastern University’s Department of Architecture.
