Belinda Tato and Jose Luis Vallejo to design Reggio School

Belinda Tato and Jose Luis Vallejo (design critics in urban planning and design and founding members of Ecosistema Urbano of Madrid) just won a competition for the construction of the Reggio Children Foundation’s new experimental education center in Italy.
Reggio Children is a network of public schools for children between birth and 11 years old in Reggio Emilia, a city where one third the public budget is invested in education. Since receiving the invitation to submit in June, Tato and Vallejo have deepened their knowledge of the Reggio approach and pedagogy in order to develop a proposal consistent with the spirit and philosophy of the Foundation. Their design, which embodies the principles of environmental sustainability, service, participation and creativity rose to the top of a field of extraordinary teams from across Europe.
See the Ecosistema Urbano blog for more information and images of the winning entry.
