Brian Vargo (MDes 15) named winner in San Francisco competition

Brian Vargo (MDes Real Estate ’15)  is named a winner in the ideas competition for the removal of Interstate 280 in San Francisco, CA. The competition, put forth by Mayor Ed Lee and organized by AIA San Francisco, asked participants to envision alternative land uses for the planned removal of a freeway in the middle of the city. Vargo’s proposal, entitled Highlink, has garnered widespread attention for its urban strategy.  Rather than simply demolishing the freeway, the project adapts its existing structure into a pedestrian promenade that adds unique value to the city’s structure. Read more about Brian Vargo and Highlink or visit the competition website.
