Silvia Benedito and Alexander Häusler place in International Danube riverfront competition

Silvia Benedito (assistant professor in landscape architecture), and Alexander Häusler (MArch II ’04) of OFICINAA won 3rd prize in the international competition to design the Danube riverfront in Ingolstadt, Germany.

The competition was designed to re-connect the city with the river, generate a new precinct for riverine lifestyles and implement new traffic solutions for the congested river edge. OFICINAA’s proposal was unanimously praised by the jury for its clear civic and programmatic strategies.

The plan incorporates plazas that connect the river with the public life of the city and serve as civic gathering spaces. There are also recreational elements at the river’s edge – fire pits, hot tubs, “wassertreten,” floating pools, heated platforms, warm food parlors, sun decks and seasonal gardens for small gatherings.
