Sunggi Park (MArch 14) awarded first prize for proposal to transform oil reserve base in South Korea

Sunggi Park (MArch ’14) was in Seoul, Korea, last week to accept first prize in an international competition sponsored by the Public Development Center of the Seoul Metropolitan Government to repurpose the Mapo Oil Reserve Base in Sangam, Seoul, South Korea. His project “Resonance of Light,” developed with Hyemin Jang of Cornell, proposes transforming military oil tanks into a welcoming flexible public space that is in harmony with the surrounding natural environment.

The project had been featured on Bustler.net and Metalocus, and it will appear in Future Magazine soon.
