GSD Class of 1964, 1989 and 2009 celebrate milestone reunions

GSD Classes of 1964, 1989 and 2009 reunited in Cambridge to mark their 50th, 25th and 5th Reunions on September 12-14, 2014. The former classmates not only reconnected with each other and reminised about their time as students, they also celebrated during the Grounded Visionaries weekend and campaign launch.

Over the weekend, the reunion groups enjoyed an inspiring series of conversations and events celebrating design. Program highlights included Rem Koolhaas, Professor of Practice in Architecture and Urban Design, who kicked off the festivities Friday evening with reflections on the “Elements of Architecture,” and Fumihiko Maki MArch ’54, GSA ’56, who closed out the event Saturday evening with a touching look back at his stellar 60-year career as an architect.

Many thanks to the volunteer class organizers, whose spirit and effort made the reunions happen: Jay Chatterjee, Julius & Edith Fabos, David Lee Smith, and Paul Yager who spearheaded the 50th efforts; Brian Aviles, Mike Lindstrom, and John Martin who led the 25th; and Corey Zehngebot who single-handedly drove the 5th Reunion.
