Spotlight on Lacaton & Vassal

The Harvard Gazette just profiled Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal, of the Paris-based firm Lacaton & Vassal. Last week the two gave an inspiring, “poemlike” lecture, “Freedom of Use,” on their practice, ethos, and influences.

The Gazette article, “They Build, but Modestly,” outlines the course that Lacaton is currently teaching at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Re-Defining Urban Living, as well as their collective philiosophy: “build generous spaces at the lowest cost possible, with a sense of economy that does not surrender comfort and beauty.”
