The Harvard University Graduate School of Design manages official social media accounts that share news about the school, promote events and exhibitions, spotlight academic programs, and provide an inside look at life at the GSD with a global audience.

Official Accounts

The Office of Communications manages the official @HarvardGSD social media accounts, including:

GSD Affiliated Accounts

Departments, offices, labs, and other GSD affiliates can also maintain social media accounts to share content related to the school. Affiliated accounts should follow the GSD’s Digital Governance Policy, as well as Harvard Public Affairs & Communications Social Media Guidelines and Best Practices including all accessibility policies.

Creating a New GSD Affiliated Account

In accordance with the Digital Governance Policy, individual programs, courses, or groups, including student and alumni clubs, wishing to establish a social media presence should contact the Office of Communications for assistance.

More than one entity must have access to the account, and a plan for handing off credentials must be in place at all times.

The Office of Communications is happy to help you determine if a new social media account is the best path for you and, if so, help to create a plan for the account and its future.

Instagram Takeovers

The GSD’s official accounts host a range of Instagram takeovers each year. Takeovers consist of a member of the GSD community posting content from their point of view to an official GSD account. Usually lasting 24 hours, takeovers typically show a day in the life of the person or provide an inside look at a course or event. A takeover may be hosted by up to three people at once.

Potential hosts will meet with staff from the Office of Communications to talk about their takeover idea and discuss logistics, best practices, and expectations. If you are interested in hosting an Instagram takeover, please contact Anna Devine in the Office of Communications.
