COURSE FULL – App Development for Apple and Android

Instructor(s):
Mark Hagen
Date/Time:
Jan 14 and 15 (M,T) / 1:00-3:00
Location:

Description:
Creating mobile apps traditionally required a choice between one of the two major mobile operating systems; Apple’s iOS or Google’s Android. If you wanted an app for each platform you would essentially write the same code twice; once in Objective-C and again in Java. However, with the introduction of frameworks such as Appcelerator and PhoneGap, developers now have the ability to code once and target multiple devices. Furthermore, these products leverage languages like JavaScript or HTML5 that are familiar to web developers and easier to learn for non-programmers. For this course we will focus on Appcelerator’s Titanium SDK and how we can write simple apps using its JavaScript API and libraries that can be deployed to iPhones, iPads, and Android devices. Some programming experience recommended but not required.
