Description:
It\’s never been more important to communicate clearly about architecture — and images aren\’t everything. This course provides a one-week introduction to the reading, writing and revision of architecture criticism by a professional in the field. On the first day, we will read key examples of architecture criticism and discuss their structure, approach and technique. On the second day, we will tour a contemporary building with its architect. On the third day (no class meeting), students will write a 1000 word critique of that building. On the fourth day, we will workshop those essays in class. Final project will be a revised version of that critique, in response to the feedback received in class. The best work from the course will be published on the LOEBlog.
