Independent Research Study

Public Parks: origins, developments, and evolution. This faculty directed research seminar uses the case study method to examine the public park through history, theory, and criticism. Each student shall author a case study for a public park and document its physical characteristics through time in an exhibition quality format. Together, this work will form the basis of an exhibition in spring 2003. Students will be required to develop Penny White proposals to fund their travel and documentation. Faculty and students shall determine the methodology and individual parks to be studied. The seminar is tentatively scheduled to meet Thursdays from 10-12. However, it is the intent of the instructor to meet only once or twice as a group per month. Individual appointments will be made during the semester to discuss progress. Student participation is on an invitational basis only.
