Andrew Holder and Erika Naginski: A Conversation on the Picturesque

Andrew Holder and Erika Naginski will discuss the picturesque, particularly as it relates to the work of William Gilpin in his 1792 book “Remarks on Forest Scenery.” The conversation marks the beginning of the installation phase of The Kid Gets out of the Picture at the GSD, an exhibition in Loeb Library that aims to recover a lexicon of nouns common to picturesque design which have since fallen out of common use in the discipline. A sister exhibition, The Kid Gets out of the Picture recently opened at Materials and Applications in Los Angeles (www.materialsandapplications.org) with the help of generous support from the Graham Foundation.
