This talk will present cutting-edge ceramic technologies that use organic structures and substances to generate new types of ceramic materials, products and one-of-a-kind design objects. By means of high-temperature transformation, 3d-printing, carbon-fiber fabric forming and PVD-technology, Dr. Markus Holzbach, Ceramic Engineer, Architect, and Material Specialist, and Werner W. Lorke, Physicist and Material Scientist, from Frankfurt, Germany, are able to convert biological artifacts into ceramic objects that retain the original structural features across multiple scales. This presentation will acquaint the audience with the process, materials and tooling possibilities to create forms, shapes & functions with the concept of “bio-materialization.”
