Claire Fellman

Claire Fellman is a landscape architect whose practice focuses on the public realm, strengthening platforms for civic discourse, exchange and mobility through multistakeholder collaboration. Her research interests include landscape infrastructures for managing water as a common resource. She is currently a Senior Associate at Reed Hilderbrand, where she is leading the design for the Alamo Plaza in San Antonio, Texas. She was previously a Director at Snohetta in New York City, where she led the firm’s reconstruction of Times Square, transforming the congested crossroads into a space for pedestrians. Other professional works include the Buffalo Bayou Partnership’s Turkey Bend, the Guadalajara Museum of Environmental Science, and the Isabel Bader Center for the Performing Arts.

Claire has previously taught studios and served as a thesis advisor at the University of Pennsylvania, the Rhode Island School of Design, and the Pratt Institute. She holds a Master of Landscape Architecture and Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and an undergraduate degree in Geology from Carleton College. While at the University of Pennsylvania, she was awarded the Narendra Juneja Medal and the Van Alen Travel Fellowship for her research on rural and urban water infrastructures in Andalusia, Spain. She has lectured at the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Municipal Arts Society Summit, the Design Trust for Public Space, and the NYC Center for Architecture.
