New students will have their HUIDs (Harvard University identification numbers) emailed to them approximately one to two weeks after being informed that they have been admitted. Once students have their HUID, they need to visit the HarvardKey website to acquire their HarvardKey, which grants them access to a variety of secure Harvard websites. If for some reason you are not able to claim your HarvardKey, please contact the GSD’s Helpdesk.

All new students must use Harvard University’s ID Card Photo Submission Application to submit their photo which will be printed on their Harvard University ID card and included in the University’s Directory. ID cards will be distributed when students arrive on campus during the orientation period, and will be notified regarding the schedule for pick-up.

All new students should upload a photo image of themselves prior to arriving on campus, no later than July 10. They should follow the instructions on the Harvard Campus Service Center website on how to submit their photo. Students will need to log in using their new HarvardKey in order to access this site (see the above paragraph for details on HarvardKey). Students will receive their actual ID card when they arrive on campus, as noted above.

In addition, new students will receive information about claiming their Harvard email account in late April/early May.

For incoming international students

Please remember to first check in at the Harvard International Office (HIO) upon arriving on campus for the first time. Failure to do so will result in a hold on your ability to add and drop courses when the semester begins.

A reminder to all incoming students

Please resolve all conditions to your admission before orientation. Official copies of transcripts, test scores, grade reports, and any other required documentation must be received in the Admissions Office before orientation and registration in order to be cleared to officially enroll in any courses. You must also be sure to send your immunization records to Harvard’s Medical Records Office (617) 495-2055 at Harvard University Health Services.
