This course has a dual objective: it provides the conceptual framework for employing computing in the design process and it delivers the practical skills for making immediate and effective use of the emerging digital repertoire. Topics include basics of computation, fundamental concepts of geometric modeling, and the integration of spatial data within a geographic information system (GIS). A series of computer-based exercises and readings of increasing sophistication constitute the course\’s homework. This course, in conjunction with GSD2109-M3, is considered a prerequisite for all other computing courses offered at the GSD. GSD2108 is also a prerequisite for all Geographic Information Systems courses.
