Internet and Architecture

Emerging information infrastructures are challenging how traditional architectural space is perceived, used and produced – creating, for many, remarkable discontinuities. Yet the nature of these information-driven changes and their desirability for architecture and society is hotly contested. This project-oriented seminar purports to give a basic orientation to these fundamental changes and the implications of new Internet-based concepts on the architecture of buildings. The seminar consists of assignment-based discussions and a final project in which new designs of physical/virtual spaces – the epitomes of the convergent new environment – will be developed and prototyped.
