On Contemporary Architecture

The course examines the main architectural strategies that emerge from the study of contemporary architecture. Issues such as linearity, fragmentation, megastructures and containers, the use of the grid, the legacy of the Le Corbusier promenade, the concept of narrative and montage, the idea of a \’formless\’ architecture, etc. are covered through the analysis of the work of the most influential architects practicing in the present. The attempt is to present a panorama of the theoretical constructs in architecture, discuss the apparent similarities and differences and question the reasons on which they are based in ideological, technical and esthetical terms.Provisional ScheduleFebruary 1February 2February 28March 1March 2April 4April 5April 6May 2May 3May 4
