Open House Lecture: Thomas Heatherwick

Thomas Heatherwick is a designer whose work is motivated by a commitment to innovate, to apply artistic thinking, and to mine the intrinsic potential of materials and craft processes. Among his works are the UK Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo (2010), the Rolling Bridge in Paddington, London’s new double decker bus, and the cauldron for the 2012 London Olympic Games. His current projects include a master plan for a new business district in Hong Kong, a corporate headquarters for Bombay Sapphire in the South of England, and a tourist boat for an estuary in France. His design studio, Heatherwick Studio—comprised of architects, designers, and makers—is based in King’s Cross, London. In conjunction with Open House for Admitted Students.
