New online home for the Harvard Center for Green Buildings and Cities

The Harvard Center for Green Buildings and Cities has launched a new website at cgbc.gsd.harvard.edu. The Center, established in January as one of the three major University initiatives supported by Evergrande Group, aims to transform the building industry through a commitment to design-centric strategy that directly links research outcomes to the development of new processes, systems, and products.

GSD alumni win honor for Mexico World Expo proposal

A team of GSD alumni was awarded Honorable Mention in the competition for the Mexican Pavilion in the World Expo Milan 2015. Manuel Diaz (MArch '13), Marcela Delgado (MArch '11), Emmet Truxes (MArch '13) and Elena Tudela (MAUD '12) collaborated to earn the honor.

Lynn Richardss Season of Renewal

Lynn Richards (LF and Lincoln/Loeb Fellow ’13) has barely had time to share the exciting news of her appointment as President and CEO of the Congress for the New Urbanism, yet she hasn’t waited to dig into her new role. She officially starts July 1, but she’s already there part time. “While I was sad to leave EPA and all the good work the Smart Growth Program has done, I am absolutely thrilled to lead an organization known for innovative design and building great places.”   Read more on the LOEBlog.

Pulitzer taps Inga Saffron

Not only the Philadelphia Inquirer but the Loeb Fellowship and the GSD are a-Twitter with the news that Inga Saffron (LF ’12) just won a Pulitzer for distinguished criticism. The award citation recognized “her criticism of architecture that blends expertise, civic passion and sheer readability into arguments that consistently stimulate and surprise.”  More

Rapid response: GSD teams Tohoku Recovery competition win

A team of GSD students, led by Kristen Hunter (DDes) and advised by Jerold Kayden (professor of urban planning and design), traveled to Japan this month to collect an award, meet with officials and tour the Tohoku region devastated by compound disasters in 2011.
