Landscape technology project to be shown at International Garden Festival

The International Garden Festival at the Jardins de Métis of Quebec recently announced the selection of “Smart Small,” an entry by Niall Kirkwood, (professor of landscape architecture and technology), Jonghyun Baek (MLA '10) and Yongkyu Kim (visiting scholar 2009-2010), as one of six competition winners.

Rotterdam studio invites the world in

“Reconsidering Architecture,” the Rotterdam-based studio led by Rem Koolhaas (professor in practice of architecture and urban design) and Stephan Trüby (lecturer in architecture) approaches architecture from 40 thousand feet and ground level simultaneously. Recently faculty and students invited the Rotterdam public in for an exhibition and evening of debate about their research at the Dependance at the Schieblock. Chris Reeds plaza: designed for campus life

Chris Reed (adjunct associate professor of landscape architecture) has envisioned the transformation of a heavily used but uninviting space at Harvard – the Science Center plaza – into a new social hub and destination. It’s a fitting task for Reed and his firm Stoss Landscape Urbanism, whose hybridized approach rooted in infrastructure, functionality and ecology was recognized with a prestigious 2012 Smithsonian / Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award.
